Sailing Komodo

The Story

The Komodo archipelago sits at the eastern edge of Indonesia, where the Indian Ocean meets the Pacific. We joined a three-day open cruise aboard the Vinca Phinisi — a traditional wooden boat, sailing between volcanic islands, pink sand beaches, and waters that shift from turquoise to ink depending on the hour. This film is what we brought back.

The Making

Handheld, underwater, and drone — three perspectives for three very different scales. We chased every kind of light, from blue hour to harsh midday sun to golden afternoon. And throughout, slow shutter speeds to let the motion blur into something dreamier than reality.
